So I think we're releasing a video featuring Dan Ryan and WWE Universe later today. And if I were a betting man, I'd say you could probably find it on IGN.com.
WWE Universe is my favorite mode in the game this year. I was playing it all day yesterday, and while I was Sheamus vs Evan Bourne, The Miz came down to ringside and did commentary. I was skeptical, because I didn't know what was going to happen but sure enough, The Miz helped me get the win against an out of his mind Bourne. After the match, The Miz came in to celebrate with me and a new alliance was formed.
Just by chance, I played the next week on RAW and it was Sheamus and The Miz vs the Hart Dynasty. Guess who came and interfered? Yep, Bourne.
That's just a taste of what you're going to get in WWE Universe this year. Just when you think you know what's going to happen, the AI changes completely and tosses you into a storyline that you didn't expect to get into. The world revolves around the choices you make, and if you don't make any choices, that world smacks you upside the head and turns around on you. Let me know what you think of the video, everyone -- I'm really excited to see your reactions.
I saw alot of comments in my blog yesterday about not letting guys get to me. No worries guys, I've been around for quite sometime and understand how it works. When I respond to what you guys might say is "negativity," I'm just responding to it. I don't let it phase me, I'm just sending it right back to everyone because the facts are that you don't know what you're talking about. That's not a slight at all, it's just a fact. You aren't here to see what goes on, therefore you have no idea. And like I've said since I got here, my goal is to GET you guys to know what you're talking about, then we'll have very productive conversations. I see I've failed at that thus far, but we have some things planned with our fellow Community Leaders to help start the process of getting everyone informed on what we're doing, and how we do it.
But egos need to be dropped. I'm here to make the best wrestling game in the world, and I won't stop until it's done. We need your help, and we would be stupid not to ask for your help. So please take advantage of this -- we'll really appreciate it.
Enjoy today's video, everyone.

Just saw the video. Looks absolutely amazing. I simply cannot overstate how excited I am to get my hands on this game. This could be THE definitive wrestling game for me, and I've been playing these things since back when Acclaim had the WWF license.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine how you guys could top this next year.
awesome
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has owned nearly every wrestling game since Pro Wrestling on the NES, I want to say this is a dream come true. This is what I have wanted in every game since the very first one. This adds endless replay value to the game. The only thing I see that needs to be improved is stat tracking. I would love to see detailed stats for each superstar's career.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great and I thank THQ for putting the effort into making this great mode
Hey whats up? It's not that im complaining or anything, just constructive. The video from IGN just showed that the game indeed got a graphical overhaul and brilliant presentation, but I still don't see anything in terms of "new info". Could you please explain how the example you brought up works? Like you mentioned the Miz on commentary: Does Miz stay there while the match is being played or was there an in-match cutscene of him attacking Sheamus or something? Like is it kosher to post a vid of this by any chance? Again, im grateful for the info you give, just asking for some further insight.
ReplyDeleteI love that it's a wet your appetite video, and it def. got many fans even more excited about this mode and its possibilities. Very good video
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely awesome!!! I kept waiting for some restriction that would ruin it but it would appear that uni-mode is as awesome as it sounds!!!
ReplyDeleteFor 2012...focus on enhancing this mode...by far the most exciting direction the game could have ever taken.
Loved the video itself btw. People are saying that it was nothing new...but it was everything it should be.
Very nice video, though I would've wanted segments we hadn't seen already at the end there. But, I know you weren't in charge of that. :)
ReplyDeletemy excitement level just raised a bunch! By the way, get backstage arenas on your list for next year. Also, better sounds in cutscene creator and sounds during entrances.
ReplyDeleteI know for sure that many people want the backstage arenas or just fighting in the crowd would be great.
And any Fire Pro game for the SNES will still play better than this P.O.S. fancy story modes aside.
ReplyDeleteyou need to go back to EA. smackdown vs raw was good before and will be good after but you left LIVE a masterpiece and the elite team crapped on your work man. You try Elite 11? It was just awful. I played 4 games and I said thats it. The controls are horrible, the game models dont move smoothly like they did in LIVE 10, and I have already had 3 glitches in 4 games (one quarter each game).
ReplyDeleteI like how everyone is calling it a bigger version of career mode. If anything, you guys should be hyping it as the return of GM Mode, because that's exactly what it is. And not even in a bad way, this is what I wanted GM Mode to be back in SVR 06/07/08.
ReplyDeleteThis is just pure greatness. I really like how WWE Universe looks and I would love to see the upgrade the future of the mode look endless. I just wonder is there any more you guys have done to the game? I mean this year I feel like it was very updated and the gameplay seems to have some replay value. I can't wait to review the game once I get it. Well I guess we will have to wait until Oct. 26 we are getting closer.
ReplyDeletei cant wait...wwe universe...i'm going to wipe OUT all the wwe stars & put in 50 of my CAWs...it will be my new federation...GWA...GLOBAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE...OOO YEAH!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to give the WWE Universe a shot. Looks very promising as I have always preferred exhibition over career. hope it lives up to the hype...that's the key.
ReplyDeleteI have been one of those saying don't let it get to you.
ReplyDeleteMy intent was just to 1) Express appreciation, and 2) Remind you that no matter how good a job you do of trying to build, as you put it, a constructive dialogue (which is possible and should happen imo,) there will always be those who - almost no matter what - will NEVER appreciate or accept what you say or can't say.
Know what I mean? That's just, sadly, the way it is.
I was just trying to say that, despite that, there are people who do appreciate it and do want to help you build that dialogue, and understand what you're trying to do.
And WWE Universe Mode looks AMAZING imo. I love that we got to see the menus. Everything looks very streamlined and easy to work with. Even what micromanaging we will have to do seems like it will be very easy and not at all time consuming. Awesome.
